There's no real spice market place in Cochin, Kerala. In fact, there are spice streets, a kind of bazaar in this old port town. Men and women invite you to come and see the many spice packs. Most of them are smaller enterprises, some specifically indicate the efforts in favour of women empowerment. Kerala people are proud of their cardamom, black pepper and turmeric. We also notice the nutmeg and mace, ginger and lesser known spices like asafoetida. And off course, the masala's. The difference between those spice blends is often very subtle. How to bring that to our public in the shops?
